Variations of the in‐situ stress within nonhomogeneous layers of the subsurface rock induced by changes in pore fluid pressure

This paper presents a three-dimensional analytical solution for deformation and stress change inside outside porous layer of rock subjected to prescribed axisymmetric disturbance in the pore fluid pressure. The is confined between two impermeable layers rock. Different mechanical moduli are considered confining strata. derived from Navier's equations static equilibrium while considering continuity across which assumed follow linearly poroelastic constitutive behavior. Results case uniform pressure within demonstrated terms deformation, as well changes magnitude orientation principal stresses, layer. Findings indicate large effect heterogeneity on redistribution reorientation in-situ stress, yet, less significantly further reveal substantial error rates that uniaxial strain models may produce estimating path depleted or injected reservoirs.
